Some say that one cannot measure a leader by ruler, that is exactly right. Measure of a leader is not the number of people who serve him, but its the number of people whom he serve. Real leaders have something to give, either tangible or intangible and they give it freely.

Idea of the week for July 6 – 12 2008

Improving your attitude may take a lot of work, but it can go a long way. Start by surrounding yourself with “positive everything”, pictures, sayings, people and books. Then try to achieve small goals every day of the week. As day passes by your attitude would become more positive as you learn and sense that you are making progress.

As a leader you should always be prepared for every event you face. That’s why you should read books, that’s why you should listen to the radio, that’s why you should study, that’s why you should really really care about your people. You should reduce the surprise factor as much as possible, life itself shows enough surprises, even for the thoroughly prepared.

In leadership there could be many lessons along the way, but the first lesson we must each learn is that broad leadership is built from deep character. Our foundations of great character is a necessity to support our great conduct. The trust and involvement of our followers will be parallel to the level of our character.
